SENATOR AZAM NAZEER TARAR Federal Minister for Law and Justice


Azam Nazeer Tarar is a lawyer by profession, a bar representative and a politician who was elected on technocrat seat from Punjab in the Senate of Pakistan in Marc202representing Pakistan Muslim League (N) and also discharging his duties as Parliamentary Leader of his party in Senate. He also remained Leader of the House in Senate. Currently, Mr. Tarar is holding the office of the Federal Minister for Law & Justice.


Mr. Tarar completed his early education from St. Mary’s School and Government School Hafizabad.. He completed his Higher Secondary from the prestigious Government College, Lahorwhere he also remained active in student politics.  Moreover, Mr. Tarar was an eloquent bilingual debater and represented his college and university in several debating competitions and bagged numerous awards. Thereafter he completed his LLB from the iconic Punjab University Law College in the year 1992 and did his LLM from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom in 1994. He was enrolled as an Advocate of the High Courts in the year 1995 and as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the year 2006.


During his professional career, Mr. Tarar established himself as a leading lawyer in Criminal and Constitutional practice having number of reported judgments to his credit.  He has  also assisted  the  Supreme  Court  and  High  Courts  by  rendering  his  services  as  amicus curiain complex legal matters.


Mr. Tarar also remained active in bar politics and was elected as the honorary Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association in the yea2004. He is an elected Member of Pakistan Bar Council for a third consecutive term spanning from 2010 to date. Mr. Tarar was also elected as the Vice Chairman othe Pakistan Bar Council in 2015 and led the apex regulatory body of lawyers. He served as Chairman Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council. Mr. Tarar in his role as Chairman Legal Education Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council (2010-2022) has spearheaded large-scale structural reforms in the field of legal education including the introduction of five-year comprehensive LLB program and has worked tirelessly to uplift the standard of legal education in PakistanHe has also represented Pakistan in numerous International legal conferences as a delegate, speaker and moderatoivarious countries.
